Joint Capacity Building Workshop on Mainstreaming Nutrition in OCOP for Healthy Diets

Virtual Event, 28/08/2024 - 30/08/2024

The Capacity Building Workshop on Mainstreaming Nutrition in OCOP for Healthy Diets is a virtual event co-organized by the FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, and the Institute of Nutrition of the Mahidol University, Thailand (INMU). This workshop provides participants with innovative and technical information to promote the nutrition dimension of the One Country One Priority Product (OCOP), within different country contexts.

The event will cover a range of topics including FAO’s ‘agrifood system pathways to healthy diets: a stepwise approach,’ food composition analysis, nutrition calculations for food labelling, healthy product and recipe development. These skills are critical for enhancing marketability and demonstrating the nutritional value of products under the OCOP initiative.

The workshops objectives are to:

  • Develop an understanding of the importance of integrating nutrition into OCOP to achieve better production, better nutrition, a better environment and better life for all.
  • Gain advanced knowledge and practical skills in nutrition, food composition, healthy diet recipe development, and product development to demonstrate the nutritional value of Special Agricultural Products (SAPs) and increase market demand.
  • Share best practices and lessons learned for leveraging the nutrition dimension of products under OCOP to promote healthy diets at OCOP country level.
  • Strengthen partnerships and capitalize on a high level of research capacity that can offer targeted advice for functional product development, commercialization of the developed product, health claim validation, process design, technology transfer, technical and advisory services towards food and nutrition-related research for social benefit.
