FAO’s OCOP initiative promotes underutilized, nutritious agrifood products linked to specific locations and cultures, and helps countries develop value chains for Special Agricultural Products (SAPs) with unique qualities and untapped market potential.

This inter-regional event on OCOP, the first of its kind, will bring together ministers, senior officials, development partners, and technical experts from Africa, Asia-Pacific, and the Near East to exchange experiences, innovations, and successful models for transforming agrifood systems through Special Agricultural Products. The event will also highlight Viet Nam’s One Commune One Product (OCOP) Programme, which serves as a cornerstone of rural economic development in the country.

The High-Level Inter-Regional Knowledge Exchange will:

  • Facilitate inter-regional knowledge exchange on building an enabling environment for the development of Special Agricultural Products;
  • Demonstrate successful models and best practices in OCOP to improve productivity, competitiveness, traceability, connectivity, accessibility and healthy diets;
  • Strengthen inter-regional collaboration and partnership through ministerial roundtables, dialogues, exhibitions, and field visits.
