FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific

Regional launch of "The Third Report on the State of the World’s Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture"

Hybrid Event, 08/07/2025

The Third Report on the State of the World’s Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture documents progress in the conservation and sustainable use of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture (PGRFA) since the publication of the previous report in 2010.

The Third Report highlights the gaps and needs identified by countries and, as such, can contribute to evidence-based policy developments. The findings inform actions needed to address challenges of hunger and malnutrition and the loss of diversity of the world’s food and agricultural plants.

The hybrid regional launch, to be held in Bangkok on 8 July 2025, will serve as a high-level dialogue on the conservation and sustainable use of plant genetic resources in the Asia and Pacific region.

Key findings of the Third Report will be presented with a focus on this region. A panel of Members, key organizations and institutions will discuss priorities for regional policies and strategies.
