World AMR Awareness Week Food Fair 2024

 

Join us at the World AMR Awareness Week Food Fair on 21-22 November at Samyan Mitrtown, Bangkok! Explore organic and antibiotic-free food, join expert panels, and enjoy interactive exhibits and activities—all raising awareness on antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) for Asia and the Pacific, the World Health Organization (WHO) Southeast Asia Regional Office (SEARO), the WHO Western Pacific Regional Office (WPRO), and the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) Regional Representation for Asia and the Pacific (RRAP) and its Sub-Regional Representation for Southeast Asia (SRR-SEA), will host this regional fair in celebration of WAAW.

The fair is financially and technically supported by the European Union (EU) through its Tripartite-implemented regional AMR project. Additionally, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has also contributed financial and technical support.

World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week (WAAW)

The annual World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week (WAAW) is celebrated globally from November 18 to 24 to raise awareness on antimicrobial resistance and encourage action among One Health stakeholders to combat the emergence and spread of drug-resistant pathogens. This year’s theme is "Educate. Advocate. Act Now." AMR continues to pose a significant threat to human, animal and environmental health.

To enhance awareness of AMR and promote the responsible use of antimicrobials, such as antibiotics, FAO and partners will hold several coordinated events across the Asia-Pacific region.
