Self-paced courses

Self-paced courses are taught in a 100% asynchronous mode on the Moodle learning platform.

Our courses include modules that can be reviewed at participants’ own pace, so it is the students' responsibility to build their own process. The estimated time to complete each course varies according to the length of its content and the time commitment of each student.

At the end of each module, the content can be downloaded in PDF format for later review.

GEMP is a methodology for organizing and improving the capacity of veterinary services and members of epidemiological surveillance networks to prepare for animal health emergency responses. This course aims to support the strategic objective of replacing or complementing face-to-face training. The Good Emergency Management Practice (GEMP) methodology can be disseminated through face-to-face training courses and workshops, trainer training and online training in line with circumstances and needs.

FAO has therefore decided to develop this online version of the training programme on good emergency management practices.

Through this course, we aim to equip countries to develop their expertise and build their capacity to prepare for and respond to an animal health emergency. An animal health emergency in this context means an epizootic disease outbreak of natural or intentional origin or a critical situation resulting from a human-made crisis or natural disaster.
