Maseru – The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Government of Lesotho have signed a new Country Programming Framework (CPF) aimed at transforming Lesotho's agrifood system. The signing ceremony, held in Maseru, was overseen by the FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu during his five-day visit to the Mountain Kingdom.

Maseru - The Prime Minister welcomed the Director-General and thanked him for honouring the King’s invitation to visit Lesotho during this historic moment. He further thanked him for the renewal of His Majesty’s role as Special Goodwill Ambassador for Nutrition for FAO and expressed the need for the Office of the King to be capacitated with the technical assistance to enable him to execute this mandate optimally.

Rome - The President of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Ambassador Dennis Francis, highlighted today the critical role of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and other UN Rome-based Agencies in addressing food crisis –currently one of the most pressing global issues –and advocated for a “more for less” strategy to confront the challenging times.

Cabo Verde - In a landmark visit underscoring nearly 50 years of collaboration, FAO Director-General QU Dongyu has recently concluded a successful tour of Cabo Verde. The visit provided an opportunity  to review and celebrate the ongoing partnership between FAO and the Government of Cabo Verde, emphasizing advancements in agriculture, fisheries, and sustainable development.

Praia, Cabo Verde/Rome – FAO Director-General QU Dongyu received Cabo Verde’s highest honour, the Award of the Order of Amilcar Cabral on behalf of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in recognition of what President José Maria Neves said was FAO’s “invaluable contribution” to the development of Cabo Verde.
