The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), with the support of FAO Capacitación, offers this virtual course entitled “World Trade Organization, Agreement on Agriculture”, which will be delivered in asynchronous mode. Participants will be able to review the content and study at their own pace.
This course aims at strengthening capacities for analyzing the international economic situation and policies related to international trade and to understand the different trade policy instruments, the functioning of the multilateral trade system and the development of mega trade agreements in the agricultural sector.

Course modality and methodology:
The course is self-paced and will be delivered 100% online asynchronously in Moodle LMS. It includes three lessons that can be reviewed at their own pace, so it is their responsibility to construct their own knowledge.
The estimated time required for this course is between 4 to 5 chronological hours. At the end of each lesson, downloadable PDFs are available for students to review.

General objective:
To provide tools that will enable participants to acquire and/or deepen their knowledge of international trade, and the main trade policy instruments related to agricultural trade in the Caribbean.
Contents:
- Lesson 1. Agriculture in the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) and the WTO AoA provisions on Market Access.
- Lesson 2. The WTO AoA provisions on Domestic Support and Export Competition.
- Lesson 3. The WTO AoA implementation and the Doha Round negotiations.
