On Wednesday, 30 October 2024, the VII National Forum on Sustainable Forest Management will take place at Libreria Spazio Sette, Rome. Organized by Legambiente Nazionale, this year’s forum is themed "Conserve, Regenerate, and Rebuild."
The forum will focus on strategies for sustainable forest management, addressing Italy’s forest heritage, and sharing best practices in corporate social responsibility and efforts to combat illegal activities in the sector. A key objective is to foster a shared proposal among forestry stakeholders and local communities that will generate common environmental, economic and social benefits, while promoting bioeconomy opportunities.
Participants will include representatives from institutions, research bodies, protected areas and the private sector. Discussions will highlight key challenges such as mountain area depopulation, inadequate forest planning, and the limited use of forest certification, alongside solutions to enhance the role of forests in climate change mitigation.
This forum offers a significant opportunity to discuss national priorities and align forestry management with the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
