Science and Knowledge Advisory Committee

About

The Science and Knowledge Advisory Committee of the Mountain Partnership was established in 2022 to support the observance of the International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development. Following the successes achieved during that year, its members opted to extend its mandate to continue its impactful work. The Committee’s primary objective is to strengthen the Mountain Partnership’s work and provide support to its advocacy and communication efforts. It promotes inter- and transdisciplinary approaches and contributes to the science-policy dialogue in support of sustainable mountain development, which includes identifying research gaps and priorities. Since its establishment, the committee has actively advanced knowledge in sustainable mountain development through the preparation of policy briefs on diverse topics. As of January 2025, the Committee comprises over 120 members representing 70 institutions.

Membership

Membership in the Science and Knowledge Advisory Committee is voluntary and open to all individuals, including scientists and practitioners that have a proven interest and/or expertise in one of the many areas related to sustainable mountain development, and to representatives of governments, institutions or organizations, regardless of whether they are members of the Mountain Partnership.
