“From vulnerability to resilience – Strengthening food security and better life in Small Island Developing States (SIDS), Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs)”.

This high-level event will bring together ministers of agriculture and key stakeholders to address the unique development challenges faced by SIDS, LDCs and LLDCs. It aims to foster collaboration and highlight solutions to enhance food security, build resilience and promote sustainable rural development.

Breakout Session: Mountain farming

Led by the Mountain Partnership Secretariat, this session will explore how mountain agriculture contributes to food security, climate resilience and biodiversity conservation in vulnerable regions.

Discussions will focus on:

  • Sustainable agricultural practices in mountain ecosystems

  • Traditional knowledge and innovation in soil and water management

  • Empowering small-scale farmers and strengthening value chains

  • Promoting sustainable tourism as a development opportunity

The event will convene high-level representatives from FAO Members, regional organizations, development partners and other stakeholders, offering a space for knowledge-sharing and dialogue on advancing equitable, sustainable food systems in the most at-risk countries.

The High-Level Ministerial Special Event is primarily aimed at Ministers and senior officials from SIDS, LDCs and LLDCs.
