Mountain Wilderness Italia presents: Swat Girls in Action!

Mountain Wilderness Italia, with the support of Mountain Partnership, the International Association for Mediterranean and Oriental Studies, the Club Alpino Accademico Italiano and the Paolo Consiglio Mountaineering School of the Club Alpino Italiano – Rome Section, has organized an event dedicated to the Swat Girls in Action! initiative. The event, set to begin at 18.30 (CET) will take place in Spazio Scena, on Via degli Orti d'Alibert 1, Trastevere, Rome. 

This gathering will showcase Mountain Wilderness’ latest efforts in the Swat region of Pakistan, focusing on projects that promote women’s participation in outdoor activities. The initiative aligns with International Women’s Day, highlighting the transformative power of education, nature, and mountaineering.

Programme highlights:

• Screening of "Girls in Action! 2024", a documentary on the introductory mountain activity course for Swat girls.
• Screening of a second documentary following a Mountain Wilderness trek through the high valleys of Swat.
• A PowerPoint presentation on the most stunning peaks of Swat, which Mountain Wilderness and its partners aim to include within a national park.
• Discussion on future training and mountaineering programmes in Pakistan and exploratory treks in Italy and Asia.
• Insights into humanitarian initiatives carried out by other organizations along the Himalayan range.

The evening will conclude with a raffle, featuring a backpack and other outdoor gear, which have been generously offered by a sponsor.

Voluntary contributions are welcomed and will support the Swat 2025 projects.
