From 28 May to 14 June 2025, the Pavillon de la Cryosphère, funded by the Albedo Cryosphere Foundation, will take place in the Green Zone of the Exhibition Centre in Nice, France during the third United Nations Ocean Conference Nice 2025 (UNOC3).
As an open and interactive space, the Pavillon will bring together scientists, policymakers, Indigenous Peoples representatives, and the public to explore the importance of the cryosphere and its role in climate regulation. The Pavillon will feature scientific panels, visual storytelling and immersive exhibits, offering visitors insights into glacier loss, polar science and conservation efforts. Covering 600 m² in the Green Zone of “La Baleine”, it will highlight pioneering research, showcase Indigenous Peoples' knowledge, and provide a platform for engaging discussions with experts and advocates.
As part of UNOC3, the Pavilion will align with global efforts to conserve and sustainably use the ocean. It will also celebrate the International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation 2025 and launch the Decade of Action for Cryospheric Science 2025–2034.
Unlike the restricted Blue Zone, the Pavillon de la Cryosphère in the Green Zone will offer an open space where all visitors can engage in discussions and contribute to shaping the future of cryosphere conservation.
