WASAG - The Global Framework on Water Scarcity in Agriculture

The Global Framework for Action to Cope with Water Scarcity in Agriculture in the Context of Climate Change, better known as  the Global Framework on Water Scarcity in Agriculture (WASAG) has been designed to bring together key players across the globe and from different sectors to tackle the collective challenge of improving water usage in agriculture to ensure food security for all.

It is a partnership hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and consists of governments and intergovernmental agencies, Member Nations, United Nations (UN) agencies (other than FAO), other UN bodies, international financial institutions (IFIs), academia and research institutions; civil society organizations (including non‑governmental organizations [NGOs]), and private sector organizations encompassing social enterprises, trade associations and foundations.

Collaboration is fostered among WASAG’s partners for the development and deployment of policies, strategies and programmes, so that the capacity of countries to improve and adapt agricultural systems is enhanced in conditions of increasing water scarcity and a changing climate, using the combined expertise and resources of the partners.
